Gray Catbirds are nest building...

Last evening while sitting outside cooking our supper on an open fire we were honored with the presence of not one but two Gray Catbirds.  This was a pleasant surprise and we were delighted to watch as they kept going into the barberry shrub and realized they were building a nest there.

Did you know the Gray Catbird is of the Mockingbird family?  Its call actually sounds like a cat and it can last for ten minutes!  Catbirds do mimic other birds, as does the Mockingbird, stringing them together to make their own song.

I was able to capture a few photos I’d love to share with you. Reminder - clicking on a  photo will bring it up in larger view.

Thank you for stopping by, do come back again soon.  Enjoy your day!
